About

I’m Mr. Baker, a full time professional musician and music educator in Austin, Texas. I have played music professionally all around the world for over 15 years. However, my true passion is nurturing musical talent for the next generation of young musicians. I believe that the legacy you leave is far more important than the notes you play. My teaching philosophy has always been centered around sparking musical joy. I believe that everything else will eventually follow, because musical joy is what keeps us hungry for more.

I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s in Music Education from Texas State University in 2015, with a K-12 teacher certification. After I graduated, I spent the following 7 years teaching K-5 elementary music at Del Valle Elementary in Southeast Austin. Although I enjoyed my experience in the classroom, I prefer working with students individually, to personalize their instruction and cater to their own musical interests and needs. Everyone learns differently, and my goal is to always identify and foster that learning style for each and every student, so they can excel quickly and enjoy themselves in the process.

That being said, I’m thrilled to offer private music lessons from my home studio on a wide variety of instruments (see Services page). No matter your musical background, I will tailor my approach to you or your child’s unique musical aspirations, so we can both grow and experience the joy together.
